I love matryoshka/ nesting dolls!

Here is a little set of nesting dolls I painted this week for baby. Yes, I am most likely going overboard with all of this, and maybe its annoying to some, but I can't help it. I hope she shares all of her stuff with her future siblings, because I have a feeling that none of my other children will have this many handmade things. Less free hands to make it with....

Featured! and Reynolds wrap???

This is a photo of some of the headbands I sent to QUIRK, the store in VA that sells my headbands. (Its their photo.) Anyway, it was featured here and here, and they tell me that the new president of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, a Mrs. Reynolds (as in Reynolds wrap) has been buying them up and wearing them 2 at a time (maybe she was inspired by THIS photo):) Pretty darn cool! hehe.

I learned to knit!

On Friday one of the other teachers at my school taught me to knit! I went online to learn how to purl (this is the best how-to knit website with video clips), and then I created this little hat (I don't know how to really make a hat yet, I just made a rectangle and then gathered it on one end and sewed the 2 sides together). Today I went online to find out how to make the flowers (a VERY simple pattern), and then I crocheted this little trim (kinda made it up as I went). I can't wait to put this on my baby's little head next winter!

More stuff for baby!

Crib sheet (I will be making a different one now that I have slightly changed the color scheme for the baby's room), crib skirt, crochet banner, flannel blanket
Crocheted pyramids, when opened...
Crocheted pyramids, when closed (well one of them closed).
I made these with the triangles my husband crocheted (I was making the banner pictured up top, and he wanted to help, so I taught him how to crochet... unfortunately I didn't use them in the actual banner, but wanted to do something with them so he could feel like he'd help make something for the baby)..

How to make:
1.Crochet or knit a triangle with 8 inch sides or larger.
2. Trace and sew a felt triangle to one side of the crochet.
3. mark off sides of pyramid, by folding in a large corner of the triangle and then stitching on top (this will create a ridge on the outside, so that it stays in the shape of a pyramid when closed)
4. Attach velcro to tips of pyramid. I hot glued the velcro on. And I put on a large soft piece of velcro on one tip, and a piece of the scratchy velcro on the other two tips. (so the 2 sides attach to the 3rd)
5. Hot glue different shapes and patterns in a contrasting hue to the felt on the inside of the pyramid.

These little guys can be thrown around as a pyramid ball or they can be opened up to reveal fun patterns!

Inspiration for my next apartment...

I want to go with lots of white and big pops of color and statements. I mean, I don't know HOW much I will really be able to whiten the things I have, but I like the high contrast and simplicity of bright, bold colors next to white. Maybe its because my mom always decorated like that. Only a little more classic and less funky. Oh how I love a new decorating challenge! New apartment here I come!

I love this!

My friend Chrissy ( can't remember if its with or without an "h") created this cute owl for her little boy's room out of felt, and I LOVE it! so cute. I have this cute little owl pillow Franc got for our baby at one of the Indie Craft fairs I sold at in the fall. It kinda reminds me of this. I love owls with those big eyes:)
