I learned to knit!
On Friday one of the other teachers at my school taught me to knit! I went online to learn how to purl (this is the best how-to knit website with video clips), and then I created this little hat (I don't know how to really make a hat yet, I just made a rectangle and then gathered it on one end and sewed the 2 sides together). Today I went online to find out how to make the flowers (a VERY simple pattern), and then I crocheted this little trim (kinda made it up as I went). I can't wait to put this on my baby's little head next winter!

That is so cute! In order not to have a seam in the hat, you would use needles that let you knit in a round. Basically, there is a piece of plastic which is slightly smaller than the needles you are using and they allow you to continually knit so that you aren't flipping back and forth. When you knit in a round, you are basically doing both sides of the hat at the same time. So, if you knit the outside, it is also being purled on the other. (sounds way more complicated than it is) You would gradually decrease stiches as you go so that the top is smaller. I love it though. You did such an amazing job. Did I mention how jealous i am that you're having a girl? Last week when I found out, I was soo depressed about it. I'm so happy for you though!
Darling! I tried to knit once. It was awful.
is this a joke? you JUST learned how to knit! i'm amazed!!! i love it!!
this is amazing! we got a few knitted hats for gifts when maren was born, but none of them fit her for more than a week. it was so sad (though none of them were as cute as yours). baby heads are a lot bigger than people think, apparently.
KaTie girl, you are amazing! i swear you were switched at birth! you are absolutely fearless - i think FIERCE is the right word! i also tried to learn to knit once and i could never figure out how to purlonce i was by myself. it was too hawd. what is the website with the easy instructions?
love, MOM
