4 years since our paper wedding.

4 years ago today I married my best friend.  It was honestly the BEST day of my life, and the best party ever (well for us).  And afterwards... I was passed out for weeks (and not because of alcohol, I don't drink).  No seriously, it is a good thing we didn't go anywhere too fabulous, because all I wanted to do was sleep!!! I had spent 4 months (we had a short engagment) making EVERYTHING (except the food) for my wedding, in addition to working full-time. Needless to say, it was exhausting. When it all came together though, it was totally worth it.  Here is a run-down of what I made:(for those who like those kind of details)

- I hand-dyed paper (that had been wrapped around home items delivered to anthro) in varying shades of pinkish brown
-made all that paper into flowers (for the centerpieces, my bouquet, and the boutonnieres).
-hand-made every single invitation (which included similar materials, and included a polaroid with our reception info on it)<---- this was maybe the most time-consuming annoying part, and I didn't even like them in the end!!!
-made my hair piece
-created the centerpieces out of branches I gathered, positioned and tied together, then wrapped in moss. ( don't have a very good photo of these unfortunately!)
-made my bouquet and the boutonnieres/corsages.
- Made the bottom part of my dress (OUT OF PAPER)
-Helped make the top part of my dress, though I had another woman sew it.
-created cds for our wedding (instead of getting a dj, I had the nice people at the Ritz pause it when needed, but I figured I didn't actually need a dj when I could handpick every song and the order it would be played--- i was trying to save money so that I could cash in on it instead)

Phew!!! I am exhausted thinking about it all again. Sometimes I wish I were planning it NOW, because there is all this awesome inspiration all over the internet for do-it-yourself weddings. And sometimes I look at all the ideas in cyberspace and think about how much cuter it could have all been (though at the time I thought it was the coolest thing ever). There are so many people doing these kinds of things now, and doing them better, and it really puts my wedding to shame! But the good thing is that when it actually happened, it was perfect.

Of course, the most important thing is not what that day looked like or was made of, but who was there and the promises we made. I will love you for eternity Francisco.

Happy anniversary! That dress is GORGEOUS! I can't believe it's partly paper. I got married 4 years ago too, and I always think the same thing now- that I could have made it so much prettier if I had read wedding blogs! But then I remember how that stuff didn't really matter because it was so perfect. Congrats on 4 years!

So funny, I feel the same way sometimes when I see stuff I like on sites now. I did all of the floral arrangements for my wedding, the invites, and a bunch of other miscellaneous items. I love how our courtship/wedding/honeymoon are so similar without us really knowing each other that well at the time. Happy Anniversary!
