Tutorial: 17th century ruffle collar

The Inspiration: 18th century French art and 17th century Dutch Baroque art. I think all the art history courses I took in High school and college may have influenced my love for white collars...

The Materials needed to make your own 17th century ruffle collar (a more casual version):

Fabric of choice. I used cotton duck.
velcro
sewing machine

1. Take a long strip (mine was a yard and a half long, but I ended up cutting the ruffle down a little) and ruffle/pleat it as you go. I made mine about 3/4 in each.
2.Overlap and pin the ends.
3. cut two strips of velcro and pin to the ends.

4.Sew the velcro down as well as the top of the overlapped edge (I just sewed on top of the stitches that were already there from the pleating).
DONE!
I think the next one I make will have two layers, and maybe I'll add something sheer to the top so its even MORE 17th century:) For now this is a casual version!
Wear it and feel absolutely fabulous!

Don't even! That collar is awesome! I honestly don't know how you find enough hours in the day to be so awesome. I'm a little jealous.

Oooh...I really like this! A lot! I also like your yellow shirt dress. Can I ask if you made that or where you got it?
